Update to Amity Addition to Australian Diamond Project October 5, 1998
Return To News Archive

Patric Barry, President of Tiger International Resources Inc. reportsthe initial geological review of the Calabrinda Creek portion of the Amity Acquisition announced on September 15, 1998.

A weathered and oxidized polymectic breccia has been discovered at the headwaters of Calabrinda Creek, located centrally in the new Amity Acquisition. The breccia is diamondiferous, with an 86kg sample producing the first diamond (0.30 x 0.18 x 0.125mm) as well as abundant kimberlitic indicators.

The diamondiferous breccia is 'sandy' tuff, Western Australia), the Bakwana Kimberlite ("polymictic kimberlite tuff', Zaire), and the Camatue Kimberlite ("polymictic kimberlite tuff", Angola).

The breccia is marked by a strong magnetic low when compared to the Cambrian limestone country rock.

As well as the first diamond, the breccia contains G9 Pyrope Garnet, kimberlitic Cr-spinel, picroilmenite, T1-magnetite and kimberlitic rutile.

The Calabrinda Breccia is the first known discovery of a primary source rock on the 400 sq. km. Amity property, which abuts Tiger's Springfield property on its northern boundary. Indications are that this breccia is the first located on the Amity acquisition of a kimberlite cluster. Tiger will report on additional anomalies on this property as data is verified.

Tiger International plans a work program of trenching and drilling to further prove these results below surface, to commence as soon as possible. Prior to such a program commencing, a permit will be obtained from appropriate jurisdictions, and aboriginal leaders will be consulted for advice regarding native occupational history of the area. Adequate funds are on hand for this program.
